Job Summary:
This position is responsible for designing engineered transmission pipeline and pipeline facilities drawings. The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 10 years of natural gas pipeline and pipeline facilities design experience using various drafting platforms including Plant 3D and/or CADWorx. Designers may be responsible for baseline drawings using a variety of inputs including converted MicroStation files, aerial images, utility maps, and hand-drawn designs. Drawings are predominantly related to Natural Gas Transmission, which may include civil, mechanical, and electrical components. Designers will be required to conduct design reviews for complex projects and oversee the work of less experienced drafters and designers.
Job Duties:
Interpret and apply various standards for Natural Gas Transmission engineering and construction standards to gas engineering designs.
Interpolate P&ID and work independently to generate 3D models from P&ID.
Determine equipment, pipe, and fitting specifications and develop a Bill of Material (BOM) for projects. Understand field construction techniques regarding natural gas mainline, compressor stations, meter and regulator stations as it applies to the production of construction drawings.
Familiarity with CFR192 regulations regarding gas engineering and construction.
Experience with programs/tools: AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant 3D.
Modify drawings as directed by engineer.
Ensure all designs follow prescribed processes and meet client specifications and quality requirements.
Return completed and checked files within the allotted timeframe.
Communicate clearly with Project Manager regarding technical questions, hours, schedule, and delays.
Train and mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Design and Drafting Technology.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Minimum of 10 years of experience, with a focus on Natural Gas Transmission.
Knowledge of SmallWorld, ESRI, or other GIS platforms is a plus.
Strong work ethic, self-driven, and desire to work in a production environment.
Pre-employment drug screening required; background and motor vehicle checks may be required.
