We are seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Specialist for a position located in Reston, VA, with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). This candidate is responsible for providing Systems Engineering & Technical Assistance (SETA) marketing and communications oversight for the Operations & Integration (OI) Threat Solutions Division (TSD) technical contract. This organization’s contract solves emerging analytical problems through implementation of custom-developed IT capabilities, as well as by operationalizing advanced technologies from public, private, and academic sectors. These capabilities support global situational awareness augmented by focused support to approved initiatives and decisive efforts. The organization’s response to emerging threat requires the ability to innovate, adapt, and meet additional as-needed support while leveraging analytical Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) learned from embedded support to Combatant Commands (COCOMs) and tactical operations. Responsibilities

Experience developing communications strategy and plans, including helping set objectives, outcomes and supporting tactics; ability to use data and analytics in planning and measurement for plans of increasing complexity. Reputation and Brand Management: Understands and considers reputational impacts in planning; some experience incorporating strategies that protect and build the brand’s reputation with multiple stakeholders. Communication Skills: Strong understanding of stakeholders and effective communication tactics, knowledge of Associated Press style and ability to write for influence and produce strong content using creative/persuasive writing techniques. Demonstrated ability to write effective social/digital content. Actively seek new ways to enhance OI-MST’s presence by suggesting new features, integrating new tools, and researching changes in the organization. Support updates and write-ups to slick sheets, flyers, and website strategic updates and changes. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, with some experience leading work/project teams. Can easily establish new relationships, build rapport and effectively and positively influence others. When needed, can serve as a liaison between the division and customers. Can adapt behavior to engage and influence others. Ability to anticipate operational/program issues and identify preventative measures. Identifies, clarifies and resolves complex problems within own work area or team. Applies strong understanding of DoD practices and integrates subject matter knowledge with planning, program and projects. Performs complex tasks involving the gathering, analyzing and compiling of data and information into well-written reports and presentations. Manages multiple projects and priorities, and initiate follow up to ensure timely achievement of commitments. Qualifications

Skills/ Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in the ability and skills to manage multiple projects, keep track of, or adjust, existing tasks while identifying new tasks and expectations as projects evolve. Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and articulate correspondence with a focus on quality control and attention to detail; excellent oral and written communication skills geared toward senior executives. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills that foster teamwork and create positive relationships with staff and principals. Working knowledge of coordination requirements for the successful preparation and approval of reports, briefings, memoranda, and presentations. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, plan, problem solve, and adapt in a fast-paced and strategic environment under minimal supervision. Proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project). Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communication, marketing, journalism or related field. 5-8 years of experience in a Brand/Communications role with public relations and/or media experience preferred. Strong writer, with a proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines. Self-starter with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Physical Requirements

Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Most positions require ability to work with a computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
