Overview
The Cato Corporation is seeking an experienced
Designer, Women’s Apparel
to join its
Design Team .
Responsibilities
Creating on-trend designs that supplement the development of product consistent with the brand strategy of the company;
Development of new ideas through competitive shopping, trend research, and design recommendations;
Creating sketches and overseeing design and samples throughout the design and development process while adhering to target customer and retail price guidelines; and
Working in a collaborative environment with our merchant and sourcing teams along with Asian suppliers.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-10 years of apparel designer experience with a proven track record in a fashion retail environment; Sweater experience is a plus.
Experience working with overseas suppliers;
Experience in the use of fabrics and how they relate to garment design;
Strong fashion and creative sense;
Excellent design and sketching skills for technical drawings and freeform renderings;
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment;
Experience in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills;
Minimum 2-year college degree in Fashion Design is required
