We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented
Designer
2
to create designs for both our
Manufacturing
and
Construction
teams. This role will be based at Baer Manufacturing in Hudson, WI where the Designer 2 will contribute to electrical construction and manufacturing projects supporting the creation of precise, buildable electrical models and optimizing those designs for prefabrication and field efficiency. We’re seeking a candidate that is skilled in both digital modeling and hands-on manufacturing workflows providing design and execution detail to the shop. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, field electricians, and manufacturing staff to ensure models are buildable, efficient, and field-ready—improving construction and manufacturing timelines and quality along the way. ***Based in Hudson, WI with a hybrid work schedule or fully remote*** Design and Modeling:
Develop and manage detailed 3D models for electrical systems using Revit and/or Inventor. Design custom prefabrication components, assemblies, and installation kits. Ensure models align with project specifications, codes (NEC), and constructability standards. Optimize designs for off-site fabrication and on-site installation efficiency. Interpret blueprint sets of drawings to integrate electrical systems accurately.
Prefabrication & Manufacturing Integration
Translate VDC models into fabricated drawings. Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, and assembly documentation. Support the manufacturing floor with design intent, troubleshooting, and revisions as needed. Ensure manufacturability of designs, including consideration for welding, material selection, and physical constraints.
Project Coordination
Work closely with project managers, field electricians, manufacturing leads, and external stakeholders. Participate in coordination meetings and perform clash detection and resolution with other disciplines. Manage model exchanges and maintain up-to-date design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Innovation & Process Improvement
Identify opportunities for improving workflows across BIM and prefabrication processes. Assist in the development and refinement of internal design and fabrication standards. Stay current with industry trends, tools, and innovations in BIM, modular construction, and VDC practices.
$75,000 - $100,000 + discretionary bonus + employee ownership + benefits Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree (or equivalent coursework) in electrical construction, design, or related field preferred. 2–5 years of experience in electrical design or manufacturing/prefabrication. Direct experience using Revit for electrical modeling; familiarity with Revit or Inventor Hands-on exposure to shop or field environments is highly desirable. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, NEC codes, and prefabrication practices. Welding knowledge and basic comprehension of metallurgy is a plus. Strong communication and collaboration abilities across departments. Practical, hands-on problem-solving mindset.
