is recruiting for
Emergency Communications Nurses , who will perform pre-hospital telephonic nursing duties utilizing a computerized clinical decision support system in the triage of lower acuity 9-1-1 calls received through the communications center; and referred over to the Nurse Triage Center.
Examples of duties include:
Utilizes a computerized clinical decision support system to perform pre-hospital secondary telephonic medical triage of lower acuity 9-1-1 calls, performs nursing assessments, formulates patient treatment plans, and assists patients in arranging appropriate care using evidence-based emergency protocols as approved by the agency's Medical Director.
Interacts with callers to quickly and accurately interpret symptoms; redirects callers to an appropriate level of care or educates the patient on self-management.
Provides instruction to patients regarding health and treatment plans, appropriate care resources, health prevention, and follow-up.
Applies professional clinical judgment from acute care experience to provide compassionate and polite communication to lower acuity callers outside the 9-1-1 system.
Coordinates patient transportation with participating agencies and resources and/or assists patients in arranging appropriate medical care and appointments.
Participates in mandatory training to support quality improvement in the Emergency Communications Nurse (ECN) Program.
CONFIRE, JPA is a Joint Powers Authority located in San Bernardino County, California, providing communications, dispatch, IT support, and GIS services to member and contract agencies. The Communications Center provides 24/7 fire, EMS, and rescue dispatch services and acts as the countywide incident coordination hub.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background check and medical exam required prior to assignment.
Applicants must be available to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays; shift differentials are provided.
Must be willing to work at any CONFIRE location within San Bernardino County.
License and Certifications:
A valid RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications are required at hire and must be maintained. ECNS and EMD certifications must be completed during orientation and maintained.
Travel:
Travel within and outside the County may be required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of insurance are required.
Sponsorship:
CONFIRE does not sponsor visas; candidates must have the necessary work authorization.
Candidate Requirements:
Current RN license in California in good standing.
At least 2 years of full-time experience in prehospital care, emergency medicine, or ambulance services as an RN, Paramedic, or EMT; at least 1 year RN experience required.
Current BLS or ACLS certification.
Experience and knowledge of the San Bernardino County prehospital 9-1-1 system are highly desired.
