At IDEXX, the Senior Software Interaction Designer is foundational in crafting intuitive, user-centered experiences for our diverse veterinary software products. By leveraging strong visual and interaction problem-solving skills, they deliver world-class designs that empower our customers and enhance satisfaction. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including product, development, and other designers—they create seamless digital interactions that support IDEXX’s evolving software product ecosystem. In this senior role for the IT Enterprise Customer Experience Systems, you will design user interfaces and workflows, leveraging design systems to ensure consistency and usability across CX applications. You will partner with CX stakeholders, lead user research initiatives, develop wireframes, create designs and prototypes, and iterate designs based on feedback and user data. You will contribute to the CX strategy and vision of providing modern, digital experiences to our customers and internal systems users, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction. This is a remote role, we are looking for someone preferably on the West Coast of the US who lives in the Pacific Time zone. Responsibilities
Partners with product management, development, quality assurance, visual design, and usability engineers to understand product requirements and identify solutions to user interface challenges. Creates wireframes, mockups, design documentation, and interactive prototypes to visualize and test design concepts. Leverages the established design system to maintain visual and functional consistency across software interfaces. Leads user research initiatives, including conducting user interviews and usability testing, to gather insights and refine designs. Develops creative responses to UX issues that arise during development and testing. Works closely with development teams to ensure design intent is accurately implemented in the final product. Advocates for the user-centered design process and contributes to the overall user experience of IDEXX software products. What you need to succeed
Excellent visual, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well in a multi-team, cross-functional environment. Typically 5+ years’ experience. A proven understanding of UX principles, usability, and accessibility standards. Advanced software interaction design experience; prior research experience is a plus. A portfolio showcasing projects demonstrating an ability to design effective software interactions is a plus. Proficiency in visual design software such as Figma and Adobe products. Hands-on experience with multiple interaction design projects as a team member. Experience working within an Agile development methodology is a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design rationale effectively. A collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within a team-oriented environment. Solves a range of problems; analyzes and recommends possible solutions. Assigned projects of moderate to advanced complexity involving routine work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks. Why IDEXX
