Our Chicago, IL office is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment. The Fire Protection Designer is responsible for designing building fire protection systems and producing construction documentation for commercial, residential, mixed-use, and institutional projects (e.g., hotels, apartments, retail spaces, data centers, and educational facilities). Responsibilities
Design fire protection systems including wet, dry, clean agent, and other relevant system designs. Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing and selection, and system layout and coordination. Read and interpret construction documents, floor plans, specifications, and equipment details. Produce drawings and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for plumbing systems. Apply knowledge of building codes and industry standards. Write and edit specifications, reports, narratives, and surveys. Coordinate with external clients and with internal disciplines. Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a fire protection emphasis, or equivalent industry experience. 3 to 5 years of experience in fire protection system engineering and design. NICET, CFPS certifications, or equivalent recommended. Ability to operate AutoCAD and Revit BIM software. Detailed knowledge of building codes and industry standards. Proficient in MS Office and engineering calculations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment and to prioritize tasks amid shifting deadlines. Positive attitude with colleagues and clients. Location

Up to 10% Compensation & Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $90,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. This role is eligible for performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive U.S. benefits package, including: Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and company holidays Wellness programs and employee assistance resources Professional development support Benefits
