Instructional Designer
Community College of Baltimore County is looking for a highly motivated Instructional Designer to assist in the expansion of online learning. The Instructional Designer will report to the Director of Instructional Design and Online Learning and support faculty in designing and creating high‑quality, accessible online courses in accordance with CCBC’s instructional and teaching policies.
Base Pay Range
$62,733.00 – $103,689.00 per year
Minimum Requirements
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is acceptable if accompanied by a graduate‑level certification in Instructional Design for Online Courses.
At least one year of experience in Instructional Design. Experience in higher education is preferred.
Experience with a higher‑education Learning Management System such as Blackboard Learn, D2L Brightspace, or Instructure Canvas.
Knowledge of quality assurance of online courses (e.g., Quality Matters, OLC, etc.), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and copyright rules.
Proficiency with content authoring tools (e.g., CourseARC, SoftChalk, Articulate 360, Captivate) and multimedia software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia). Preference given to candidates with these skills.
Responsibilities
Assist CCBC faculty in applying instructional design and instructional technology principles.
Design and develop courses using current instructional design best practices.
Conduct training workshops for faculty and staff.
Maintain current knowledge of instructional technology and design research.
Provide periodic reports on course development projects.
Support the development and implementation of online learning courses and programs.
Participate in the design and development of online courses for the Department of Online Learning.
Conduct quality assurance reviews and provide faculty with training on copyright and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Create interactive and engaging course content.
