Base Pay Range

$110,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr

Position Summary: Sam’s Club is elevating its creative standards and design excellence—and we need a Director of Creative Design to lead the way. This role goes beyond asset management; it’s about shaping a cohesive, innovative design vision that inspires teams and resonates with millions of members. You’ll champion generative AI adoption, ensure design consistency across all touchpoints, and bring a retail‑savvy approach to every campaign. What You’ll Do

  • Set the Standard for Design Excellence: Establish and maintain design guidelines that ensure consistency and elevate the quality of creative work across all channels.
  • Elevate Day-to-Day Creative: Improve the impact of promotional design by introducing best‑in‑class practices and tools, resulting in measurable engagement lift.
  • Champion Generative AI: Develop and implement a roadmap for integrating Gen AI into creative workflows, training and inspiring the team to adopt AI‑driven design solutions.
  • Deliver Retail‑Centric Creative: Launch at least three major retail‑focused campaigns that showcase design innovation and drive conversion metrics.
  • Build and Mentor a High‑Performing Team: Coach and develop designers to achieve 90%+ performance goal attainment, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with Marketing Strategy, Category Management, and external agencies to deliver cohesive, brand‑aligned creative solutions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Design Leadership Expertise: 8+ years in design direction (agency or in‑house), with experience elevating design standards and leading creative innovation.
  • Retail Experience: Proven ability to create impactful design for retail environments and promotional campaigns.
  • Generative AI Vision: Familiarity with AI‑driven design tools and strategies, with a passion for innovation.
  • Hands‑On Approach: Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to guide design execution while inspiring your team.
  • Collaboration Skills: Strong communicator who thrives in cross‑functional and agency partnerships.
  • People Development: Track record of mentoring and building high‑performing design teams.

Additional Compensation Includes Annual or Quarterly Performance Bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Marketing, Creative Writing, Advertising, Fine Arts, or related field and 7 years’ experience leading creative teams OR 9 years’ experience leading creative teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Managing Brand Initiatives for Product Launches.
  • Managing Budgets, Including Budget Forecasting and Reporting Financials.
  • Managing cross‑functional teams in a retail creative environment.
  • Managing large‑scale interactive campaigns in an online creative or related digital field.
  • Managing Vendor Contracts and Relationships.
  • Working for or with creative agencies.
