Overview
IMEG , one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., is growing and seeking a
Mechanical Design Engineer
in our Cincinnati, OH office. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities include assisting in engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This position will work within the project budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Principal Responsibilities
Compile assigned engineering tasks of low to moderate complexity. Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively. Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects. Assist in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.
Analyze low to moderate complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions. Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering. Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
Required Skills/Abilities
Developing proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in producing technical plans and specifications.
Strong technical and analytical skills including principles related to thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as they relate to mechanical systems design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings.
Proficiency in industry-standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges; developing proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written formats; proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and Experience
Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience, 6 years preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry.
Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $83,000 – $112,000. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Individual pay is based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options. Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
