Aztec Tents is seeking a motivated and detail-driven CAD Design Lead to join our team in Torrance, California. This in-person role blends creative design with real-world production, mentoring a small team and contributing to projects that define the tent and event structure industry. Key Responsibilities

Create and refine AutoCAD drawings for tent tops, walls, and frame components. Translate customer sketches into production-ready designs. Develop drawings for fittings, braces, corners, and other frame assemblies. Coordinate design details with fabric, metal, and sales departments for accuracy and efficiency. Maintain organized CAD and revision control systems. Lead and mentor CAD technicians to maintain design quality and consistency. Preferred Skills

Advanced proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, or SolidWorks Experience in fabric patterning and 3D-to-2D translation for production accuracy Knowledge of CNC cutting workflows (Eastman, PatternSmith, or similar) Understanding of metal fabrication and hardware design integration Working knowledge of structural principles and dimensional calculations Strong communication and coordination skills across production and leadership teams Leadership and mentoring ability for guiding CAD technicians Familiarity with lean manufacturing or process improvement practices Hands-on experience in R&D, prototyping, and product refinement Creative problem-solving skills bridging design and manufacturing Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired but not required. Preferred Software Experience

AutoCAD (2D and 3D drafting) * Required Rhino 3D (fabric and frame modeling) PatternSmith, cutPRO, or similar pattern cutting software (Eastman workflow) SolidWorks or Fusion 360 (component and assembly design) Adobe Illustrator (fabric graphics and layout) Microsoft Excel (dimensions and BOM calculations) Microsoft Teams or SharePoint (collaboration and revision tracking) Who You Are
