Job summary: The Senior Writer, Executive Communications serves as the lead writer for the Office of the President. Responsible for crafting high-impact speeches, remarks, summaries and talking points that authentically reflect the President's voice, priorities and thought leadership. Delivers compelling content that informs, inspires and influences through various platforms and channels. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities
60% - Essential - Presidential Speechwriting and Social Media: Write speeches, remarks and event scripts for the university president across internal and external engagements (donor meetings, conferences, community appearances). Accurately capture the president's voice, tone and strategic priorities. Proactively generate ideas for the president's social media platforms, positioning the president as a thought leader in higher education. 15% - Essential - Collaboration: Work closely with university communications, advancement, academic affairs, student affairs, athletics and others to ensure message alignment and strategic consistency. 10% - Essential - Executive Communications: Support development of talking points, op-eds, statements and correspondence for other senior leaders. Create, edit and design PowerPoint presentations for the president and other leaders as needed. 10% - Essential - Content Development: Translate institutional initiatives and academic work into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. 5% - Essential - Issues Management: Collaborate with news and communications teams to prepare responsive messaging on emerging topics and sensitive matters. Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, or related field. Work Experience: 7+ years. Preferred Requirements

Job Knowledge: Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations. Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory duties. Budgetary Responsibilities: No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget. Physical Requirements: Sit for prolonged periods; communicate, give direction. Working Conditions: No special work conditions. Work Schedule: Standard hours 37.5/week.
