Responsibilities
Analyze potential and existing customers by gathering and reviewing information on financial condition, loss and exposure history, and other relevant data to determine account acceptability. Assess economic acceptability of risks and determine the type of insurance coverage and premiums. Under supervision, assess risk, set rate and coverage levels, and develop critical skills through training and mentorship. Establish, support, and maintain effective relationships with peers, customers, and brokers/agents. Evaluate new and renewal book of business from evaluation to pricing, analysis, and risk assessment. Manage and grow a profitable book of excess casualty business through the network of wholesale broker partners. Broker Management: understand the brokerage relationship, manage expectations, and communicate company decisions and philosophies; maintain producer/agency contact logs; participate in agency visitations; travel for broker marketing meetings and industry events; leverage industry relationships to grow the portfolio using Berkley Custom playbook. Risk Assessment Duties: evaluate risk characteristics of submissions, review account documents for accuracy, analyze and price business, assess risk quality and compliance, and initiate loss prevention actions; obtain required approvals as needed. Enterprise Responsibilities: contribute to firmwide Berkley Custom operations, marketing plans, product analysis, services, geographic focus, and broker intelligence; collaborate with leaders to broaden knowledge of pricing trends and opportunities. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of experience in excess casualty. Excess casualty professional with strong go-to relationships within the wholesale brokerage channel. Deep understanding of the market and a history of strong industry relationships. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make independent judgments. Team player, willing and eager to learn, organized, detailed and flexible. Demonstrated integrity, respect and professionalism. Occasional travel, including overnight trips. The Company is an equal employment opportunity employer. Sponsorship
