Summary
The Structural Designer prepares 2D/3D design and construction deliverables while creating clash-free structural models. Ensures structures are of sound design working collectively with engineers and following industry codes and standards. These include modular steel structures, piping, electrical, equipment supports as well as material take-offs and miscellaneous reports. Designs are developed while referencing drawings, models, and other data from multiple design disciplines (piping, electrical, mechanical, civil). Responsibilities
Provide design team with design guidance and direction. Define scope and project objectives to accomplish design goals. Respond to both internal and external communication regarding project or design status. Partner with team members to ensure projects meet objectives. Perform self-check and checking of others. Maintain multi-discipline communication. Develop 3D structural models. Create 2D deliverables, such as fabrication drawings. Optimize existing designs to aid equipment layout and module transportation. Education And Experience
10-15 years of closely related experience. High School (High school diploma) Diploma or equivalent. Design/Drafting Certificate (Trades certificate / diploma) or a minimum of 10 years of related job experience. AutoCAD Advance Steel (Advanced) Navisworks (Advanced) Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate) PDF Editor (Intermediate) AISC standards and practices (Intermediate) ASME standards and practices (Intermediate) Industry Standards: PIP, plant layout, piping and design standards (Intermediate) AutoCAD Plant 3D (Advanced) OSHA Regulations (Intermediate) Physical Requirements
Ability to reach, stand, walk, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motions. Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
