Education/Experience/Licensure

Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Systems Design or related from an accredited college.

3 years of progressively responsible experience in 4kV to 345kV substation P&C design is preferred.

Experience in generation plant and/or substation switchyard P&C design is desirable.

Responsibilities

Work under the direction of the P&C Group Lead.

Work with a team to complete substation P&C design projects to meet client standards and practices.

Maintain quality and efficiency while developing deliverables such as One-Line Diagrams, AC & DC Schematics, Panel Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Schedules, and Bills of Material, utilizing AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam.

Foster strong customer relationships through communications and support.

Shadow Senior staff on substation site visits as required.

Attend scoping meetings as requested for projects.

Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy to provide quality deliverables.

Check/review other personnel work for accuracy and adherence to client/national standards.

Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements. Share updates with team and leads to continually improve communications and quality.

Promote a strong safety culture within the team and advocate the incorporation of safe work practices into all activities.

Work with the P&C Group Lead and Program Manager to identify potential areas of engineering process and/or procedure improvements.

Education/Experience/Licensure (continued)

Possess an understanding of high voltage transmission substation P&C equipment, or willingness to learn under an experienced team member.

Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to electrical substation design.

Ability to work independently with direction, while not hesitating to take initiative and ask questions when needed.

Possess aptitude for developing strong working relationships with Senior Management, Program Manager, Project Manager, Group Leads, and design staff.

Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with the Client.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Possess willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa quality requirements and safety requirements.

Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and software used for specific technical applications within the group.
