Overview Project Designer - New River Valley, VA Westwood Professional Services, Inc. Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Designer to join our Architecture team in our New River Valley, VA office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. Duties and Responsibilities Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget Plans layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contract Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans Prepares studies and reports Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents Resolves client problems and complaints and provides technical advice to project staff Performs final quality assurance/buildability review of project documents Signs and seals project documents prepared under his supervision Understands and obeys site safety requirements for construction sites Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Skills Knowledge of the art and science of designing buildings and structures, styles of design, and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structures Read, analyze, and interpret written communication, specifications and drawings Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulations Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other discipline specific software Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products Required Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required Ability to obtain Architectural license in applicable state(s) Must complete training and testing for licensure within established time frame Compensation Range Minimum Compensation Range Maximum About Westwood Professional Services, Inc.
