We're looking for a Senior Multimedia Reporter for BTPM NPR! What you'll be doing The Senior Multimedia Reporter (MMR) is responsible for combining traditional and digital elements to tell compelling news stories. This individual is responsible for supporting our reporting pillars, producing content as assigned and managing all aspects of the journalistic process such as investigation, compiling research, conducting interviews, writing, capturing imagery and video, editing, and posting on various platforms such as our website and social media platforms. In conjunction with hosting a daily program, the SMMR takes initiative to pitch stories in alignment with our strategic goals, develops a robust story development pipeline, and focuses regularly on long-form content, specifically those with potential for cross-promotion on various platforms. This position can be hybrid - a blend of remote and in-office work. In summary, this individual will: Act as a primary, regular host/personality for daily program All Things Considered, afternoon reporting coverage, and all other programs and segments as assigned Independently create, produce, and deliver engaging on-air and digital content in alignment with station and FCC guidelines Research topics, book and vet guests, and conduct interviews for broadcast and digital platforms Capture, edit, and produce high-quality audio, video, and images for multiplatform storytelling Write articles for publication across btpm.org, podcasts, social media, and other digital channels Records copy for BTPM stations as requested by the promotional producer (or designated individual) Assist with training new show producers, hosts and other staff May perform talent appearances when necessary or assigned Develops and maintains diverse community partnerships Accurately inform, entertain, and engage specific audiences and media platforms through thoughtful analysis of complex issues Participate in public events, live broadcasts, and promotional appearances that reflect BTPM's mission and brand Ensure best practices, guidelines and protocols of journalistic integrity are implemented and followed What you'll need Minimum of Bachelor degree in journalism, English, broadcasting or a related field Minimum of five (5) years in a reporter and/or host/anchor position, public media industry a plus Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and proof-reading skills Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written Creative thinker with strong time management and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to develop and report complex stories and issues with outstanding skills in writing and editing Experience in maintaining high journalistic standards including objectivity, balance and fairness Demonstrated ability to meet and adhere to deadlines Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office Familiarity and hands-on experience with various social media and digital platforms Familiarity with various audio and video recording equipment Familiarity with Adobe Audition, Premier, Photoshop a plus Why BTPM? Hours of work are based on operational need; typically, Monday through Friday, mid-shift availability required. Starting pay will be based on education, experience and interview.
