What the role is:
This is a 2-year contract position as a Lecturer, Live Events and Technical Theatre in the School of Film & Media Studies.
What you will be working on:
Teaching and Development
Develop and deliver curriculum for events & stage management, stagecraft and technology and technical theatre across diploma and adult learning courses
Lead practical training in live event production (sound, lighting, staging, and audio-visual systems)
Guide students in event and live performance planning and execution while providing mentorship
Supervise student-led events and productions
Coordinate with industry partners for real-world project opportunities
Maintain and oversee technical theatre facilities and equipment
Develop industry-relevant assessments and contribute to curriculum development
Teach both full-time students and working professionals (flexible hours including evenings/weekends when required)
Support in student development and pastoral care
Academic Admin and committee work which supports the activities in a functional committee assigned by the School, such as timetabling, academic quality, student development, facilities management, overseas programme etc.
Industry Integration
Maintain strong connections with industry partners across related sectors
Organise industry visits and guest speaker sessions
Facilitate industry projects and collaborations
Keep curriculum updated with emerging trends and technologies
What we are looking for:
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre, Stage Management, Events Management, or related field
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in managing large-scale live events and productions
OR
Minimum 8 years of substantial industry experience in related field
Proven track record of successful projects in related field

Sound reinforcement
Sound engineering
Stage lighting
Production management
Stage management
Event operation and execution
Valid workplace safety certifications (Technical theatre certifications advantageous)
Experience in both corporate events and performing arts productions
Knowledge of local event regulations
Excellent project management and leadership abilities
Strong problem-solving capabilities under pressure
Proficiency in technical drawing and production software
Experience with digital event platforms and hybrid events
Strong industry networks
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
