This position requires a passion for the macabre, strong technical skills in special effects makeup, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines. Your artistry will be integral to the overall guest experience, making you the creative force behind the magic—and the nightmares—of our attraction.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced makeup, prosthetics, and special effects to transform performers into unforgettable characters
• Collaborate closely with a team of artists and performers to ensure looks are innovative and immersive
• Work in a fast-paced environment to achieve the required looks for each performance
• Ensure makeup applications are durable for hours of intense performance and movement
• Partner with the costume department to maintain cohesive and compelling character aesthetics
• Communicate makeup processes and aftercare clearly to actors, ensuring comfort and satisfaction
• Troubleshoot and adapt makeup designs as needed during performances
• Participate in pre-season training to master character designs and learn new techniques
• Stay current with trends in special effects makeup for haunted attractions

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old to apply and work in this role
• Flexible availability to work evenings and weekends with reliable attendance
• Comfortable standing and moving throughout the event area for extended periods
• Airbrush proficiency: use, clean, and maintain airbrush equipment for makeup applications
• Experience with special effects or haunt makeup techniques (SFX, prosthetics, scars, bruises, or unique character designs) is a plus
• Creativity, attention to detail, and ability to design and execute dramatic looks under time pressure
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to work with actors and other artists to achieve desired effects
• Hygiene and safety: maintain a clean work area and follow safety best practices
• No license required for this role; specialty skills and hands-on airbrush experience are highly valued
