Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology, to maintain the school district's audio/visual hardware and equipment in operating condition, meeting the technology needs to run equipment for events planned in the district; troubleshooting as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in the audio, video, and/or lighting for District events scheduled in the evenings and weekends.
  • Setup and test before the events start.
  • Attend and provide immediate support for productions.
  • Maintain equipment and make recommendations when equipment needs to be replaced.
  • Be able to train staff to use audio-visual equipment. Document commonly used processes as-needed.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as cooperatively with staff, students, and the general public, within the limits of assigned responsibilities at various sites in the District.

Equipment

  • Uses audio/visual equipment.
  • May use personal computers and related equipment.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to school district locations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of audio/visual equipment, installation, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of end-users.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to report work orally and/or in writing to supervisor.
  • Ability to establish and, maintain cooperative working relationship with, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards, Compensation

  • Work in standard office and school building environments.
  • Paid based on number of hours worked for each event worked.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • High School diploma.
  • Related college or technical school coursework or technical training.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Successful related experience in audio/visual maintenance.
  • Receipt of current, favorable clearances including: Pennsylvania State Criminal History (Act 34), Federal Criminal History (FBI – Fingerprinting - Act 114), Pennsylvania Child Abuse (Act 151), and Sexual Misconduct and Abuse Disclosures (Act 168).
