Subject Matter Expert (SME), Broadcast IP & Cloud Live Production IRC265327 Job
GlobalLogic, Germany, OH, United States
Overview
Subject Matter Expert (SME), Broadcast IP & Cloud Live Production IRC265327 at GlobalLogic.
The project involves supporting a global media network in a multi-year technology transformation initiative focused on modernizing the network’s broadcast and media infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency, increase scalability, and enable innovative content creation and delivery models. A primary goal is the transition from legacy baseband infrastructure to a software-defined, IP-based architecture aligned with industry standards like SMPTE ST2110, including designing and implementing the core IP network infrastructure and integrating various broadcast systems onto this foundation. A key area is the implementation of advanced live production workflows, leveraging cloud platforms to provide flexibility, scalability, and cost efficiency, potentially reusing existing hardware via IP gateways. The program aims to enable remote production and resource sharing across global locations, and to integrate AI-driven tools across the media value chain to automate tasks and enable data-driven insights. The work is executed through a phased, incremental approach with close collaboration among client teams and external system integrators and partners to establish a future-ready, highly available, and resilient infrastructure for content creation, distribution, and audience engagement across linear and digital platforms.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert on SMPTE ST2110 and IP-based broadcast infrastructure for the transformation program.
- Lead or support the design and technical planning for the transition from traditional baseband to a software-defined, IP-native architecture.
- Provide expert guidance on the design and implementation of cloud-based live production workflows, integrating these with both existing and new on-premises systems.
- Evaluate existing broadcast and media infrastructure (SDI, IP, and cloud components), assessing technical readiness and identifying gaps relative to the target state.
- Develop strategies and technical approaches for migrating workflows, potentially utilizing SDI/IP gateways to reuse existing SDI equipment where appropriate.
- Ensure all proposed and implemented solutions comply with relevant industry standards (SMPTE ST2110, AMWA NMOS, JT-NM standards and recommendations).
- Work with internal and external teams (System Integrators, partners) to ensure technical alignment and successful execution.
- Contribute to the definition of technical requirements, architectural diagrams, and implementation plans for transformation roadmap phases.
- Provide technical expertise to enable remote production and resource sharing across locations.
- Review and assess technical proposals from vendors and partners.
- Support knowledge transfer and contribute to training materials for client technical and operational teams.
- Identify, assess, and propose mitigation strategies for technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure solutions are designed for scalability, resilience, and optimal performance.
Qualifications
- Must have: Extensive, proven experience in designing and implementing broadcast systems based on SMPTE ST2110; hands-on experience with uncompressed video, audio, and data over IP.
- Must have: Demonstrated success migrating complex broadcast infrastructures from SDI to IP-based networks.
- Must have: Deep understanding of IP networking principles in broadcast environments (multicast, PTP, QoS).
- Must have: Significant experience implementing cloud-based live production solutions on public, private, or hybrid cloud platforms.
- Must have: Proven ability to integrate and ensure interoperability between solutions from diverse vendors (software: Grass Valley AMPP, Evertz Dreamcatcher, Simply Live, VMix, VizRT; hardware: SDI/SMPTE-2110 gateways).
- Must have: Expertise in evaluating existing broadcast technology infrastructure and workflows to inform transformation strategies.
- Must have: Experience designing scalable, resilient, and high-availability broadcast architectures.
- Must have: Strong client-facing skills to communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders.
- Must have: Experience on large-scale technology transformation programs in the media or broadcast industry.
- Must have: Proficiency in ensuring solutions adhere to standards (SMPTE, AMWA NMOS, JT-NM recommendations).
- Nice to have: Experience with hybrid cloud media solutions.
- Nice to have: Experience with virtualized production environments.
- Nice to have: Direct experience enabling remote production across geographically dispersed locations.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with AI-driven tools in media workflows (metadata, automation, analytics, content verification).
- Nice to have: Experience with broadcast disaster recovery and business continuity, especially hybrid cloud models.
- Nice to have: Advanced knowledge of IP networking protocols beyond basics (IGMP, PIM, MC-LAG, TRILL, OSPF).
- Nice to have: Prior experience in or with Middle Eastern media markets.
- Nice to have: Experience contributing to or leading change management and training initiatives in media organizations.
- Nice to have: Experience evaluating technology partners and vendors for large-scale projects.
