We are looking for a CAD Designer to join our growing team at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center! In this role you will make an important impact by developing design concepts within CAD and modeling parts and products. In additional you'll support our product design efforts as we continue our company growth into 2026 and beyond!
Responsibilities
- Develop design concepts that address the specific needs of the product including reliability and durability, conformance to standards, manufacturability, and aesthetics.
- CAD modeling of parts, assemblies, and products.
- Documentation of designs.
- Preparing bills of materials.
- Performing tolerance stackup calculations.
- Working with vendors to develop specifications and obtaining quotations for cost estimates.
- Working with purchasing department for vendor qualification and selection.
- Preparing prototypes for testing.
- Performing engineering analysis to select optimum design.
- Adherence to processes and procedures for management of CAD data and project documentation.
- Adherence to Quality Management System.
Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Over 2 years of experience in 2D CAD design and drafting.
- 3+ years of experience solid modeling experience using either Pro-Engineer or Solidworks.
- Experience with a PLM system (Windchill strongly desired).
- Understanding of a variety of manufacturing methods and processes including sheet metal fabrication and injection molded plastics.
- Understanding of prototyping and 3D printing process and techniques.
- Ability to read and generate specifications and drawings including physical, operational, reliability, and performance; the ability to prepare creative multiple solutions to problems presented.
- Ability to operate, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
- Analytical skills (means, standard deviations, power, and sampling); basic electrical household wiring knowledge; and an understanding of sheet metal and plastic part and tooling design.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
