NPG of Yuma-El Centro in Yuma, Arizona has an immediate opening for a full-time Multimedia Journalist. We’re looking for an articulate Multimedia Journalist with good camera presence and a firm grasp of current events. Candidate must have strong news judgment and solid writing and video skills. You must be able to multitask and cover news, get it on the air, and maintain a smooth delivery. The candidate must be able to shoot and edit own material. Spanish proficiency is a plus. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug test and background check are required.

Position Summary
As a Multimedia Journalist, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and producing multimedia content that engages, informs, and entertains our audience across different media channels.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from sources to support story development.
- Create compelling narratives and storytelling elements to enhance multimedia content.
- Identify, research, and develop story ideas across a range of topics and formats.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to plan and execute multimedia content projects.
- Create multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, articles, infographics, and interactive features.
- Use video and audio editing software to produce high-quality visuals and sound.
- Promote multimedia content on various social media platforms.
- Interact with the audience and encourage user-generated content and discussions.
- Report live from events, interviews, or breaking news situations using multimedia formats.
- Conduct in-depth research to ensure accuracy, credibility, and relevance of content.
- Fact-check information and adhere to ethical journalism standards.
Additional Responsibilities
Follow and comply with company and government-related safety guidelines/regulations and all company policies while driving, completing assignments and using company-owned equipment.
Required Competencies
Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, multimedia production, or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in multimedia content creation, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work is a plus.
- Proficiency in video and audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Audacity).
- Excellent storytelling and writing skills.
- Effective communication with other newsroom members.
- Sets a positive, productive tone – minimizes distractions and works productively at all times.
- Strong on-camera and on-microphone presence.
- Ability to work creatively and adaptively in a dynamic multimedia environment.
- Knowledge of multimedia equipment, technology, and best practices.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content distribution strategies.

Physical requirements
Performing the duties of this job may involve prolonged periods of sedentary work for extended durations, extensive use of office-type equipment involving repetitive motions, and occasional lifting/moving of lightweight objects less than 20 pounds. Additionally, the ability to walk, climb, lift and carry lightweight objects up to 20 pounds is required. Speaking and sensory abilities are necessary for this position.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled surrounding with moderate noise level designed to provide a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with state/federal laws and regulations. Work is also performed in outside venues where the climate and noise level may have varying levels of exposure.
