Purpose and Scope
The PT Specialist III, Library is responsible for providing computer lab assistance to college students, directing students to library resource materials and open computer lab, creating Student ID cards, checking in/out books and videos for students. He or she sorts and distributes mail, answers phone calls, and responds to routine questions. He or she maintains supplies and forms needed for daily operation.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide computer lab assistance to college students, staff and general public
- Provide testing information to students and faculty in person, by e-mail, and by phone
- Operate a variety of equipment, such as a personal computer, printer, photocopier and scanner
- Create Student ID cards
- Direct students to library resource materials and open computer lab
- Check in/out books and videos for students
- Maintain supplies and forms needed for daily operation
- Assist students with printing in the library
- Assist students with using the research databases
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule And Conditions
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- Work hours will include evenings and weekends
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
- Reliable mode of transportation to travel to campus locations within the LSC Service Area (LSC-Conroe Center and LSC-Creekside Center)
Salary
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60
