About the role

The Information is hiring a reporter to own the business story of the coming decade: how companies are using artificial intelligence.

What you'll cover

• Companies such as Palantir, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services as well as up and comers such as Databricks, revealing winners and losers from the shakeout in the cloud and enterprise software industries.
• AI application and agent developers and the infrastructure powering them.
• The economics of AI, what vendors are charging, what customers are paying and whether anyone is making money.
• How AI developers are trying to replicate older apps like Slack and Salesforce and how the owners of those apps are fighting back.
• Existential threats to software and IT services incumbents such as Adobe, Salesforce and Accenture.
• The gap between hype and reality, including the messy challenge of installing companywide agents and other automations.

Qualifications

• A proven track record of breaking news and cultivating high-level sources.
• Deep curiosity about AI, startups, and power dynamics in tech.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to tell complex stories clearly.
• The ability to multitask between short- and long-term stories.
• The ideal candidate will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City. We offer a flexible hybrid work model to provide a balance between in-office and remote work. To ensure effective collaboration and communication, employees are required to work in our offices three days a week.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $160,000 USD Annually + Bonus + Benefits
