Senior Price Reporter - Metals (Hybrid in Houston or Remote other states)

Fastmarkets is an industry-leading price-reporting agency (PRA) and information provider for global commodities, providing price data, news, analytics and events for the agriculture, forest products, metals and mining and new-generation energy markets.

Fastmarkets is seeking a Senior Price Reporter to join its Americas metals team, based in the United States. This role will be responsible for developing and promoting prices, news and market commentary for the North American metals industry. You will have the opportunity to work with cross-regional and cross-functional teams and participate in key projects focused on sustainability. The role reports directly to an Americas editor.

Responsibilities

• Price Discovery and Analysis: Demonstrate sound judgement to produce representative prices in challenging and opaque markets, peer review and approve prices to ensure processes are followed and editorial judgement applied, and back up colleagues on pricing patches when necessary. Ensure understanding of compliance and methodology.
• News and Thought Leadership: Break news and publish industry-leading articles with minimal editing, showing depth and breadth of knowledge across multiple markets.
• Market Engagement: Develop and support the adoption and evolution of Fastmarkets prices through regular market engagement, identify opportunities and threats, discuss specifications internally and externally, and take initiative to improve processes and launch new prices.
• Networking: Maintain a comprehensive contact base using multiple channels, including face-to-face meetings.
• Presenting: Seek opportunities to speak at events and webinars, and moderate panel discussions.
• Mentoring: Coach other reporters as requested to share knowledge and foster growth within the team.
• Representation: Exhibit adaptability and professionalism, align with company values, use time effectively, and communicate with integrity.

Qualifications

• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential. Spanish is helpful.
• Market Knowledge: Background in metals, commodities or financial markets, with a strong network of sources.
• Analytical Skills: Experience in data analysis, comfort with numbers and spreadsheets, and ability to distill complex topics.
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with industry contacts, respond to price inquiries and handle confidential information discreetly.
• Values and Culture Fit: Personal accountability with a growth mindset and openness to collaboration, learning and inclusivity.
