About the company Whatnot is the largest live shopping platform in North America and Europe. We’re re‑defining e‑commerce by blending community, shopping, and entertainment into a platform just for you.
We’re a remote co‑located team driven by innovation and anchored in our values. With hubs in the US, UK, Germany, Ireland, and Poland, we’re building the future of online marketplaces together.
Role We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Trust & Risk team—someone passionate about creating thoughtful, scalable systems that protect and empower our community.
In this role, you’ll design tools, workflows, and user experiences that help identify and prevent abuse, enforce platform policies fairly, and support users throughout their safety journeys—from proactive education to responsive resolution.
You’ll partner closely with product designers, product managers, engineers, operations, data scientists, and policy experts to build solutions that balance safety, speed, and user trust—whether you’re designing an appeals experience, reviews, internal enforcement tooling, or real‑time interventions during live shows.
Responsibilities
Design end‑to‑end experiences that protect the integrity of the platform while minimizing friction for good users
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate complex policies and workflows into intuitive product experiences
Create wireframes, prototypes, and final visuals that bring clarity to ambiguous trust and safety problems
Contribute to the broader design system while advocating for accessibility and inclusive user experiences
Use data, research, and feedback to iterate on existing tools and identify areas for improvement
Support internal teams who moderate content, review reports, and resolve user issues with efficient and usable tooling
Qualifications
4+ years of experience designing digital products, ideally on Trust, Safety, Compliance, or Integrity teams
Strong interaction and systems thinking—you can untangle complex flows and design for edge cases
Strong portfolio demonstrating your experience
Expertise in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Protopie, Framer)
Deep understanding of user experience design principles and methodologies, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, or Los Angeles, CA hubs.
Benefits
Generous holiday and time‑off policy
Health insurance options including medical, dental, vision
Work from home support
Care benefits, including monthly wellness and childcare allowances and lifetime family planning benefits
Retirement plans: 401k with employer match up to 4% of base salary and pension plans internationally
Dog‑food allowance and other perks (e.g., app usage, monthly allowances)
Parental leave: 16 weeks paid plus one‑month gradual return to work, subject to local laws
EEO Statement Whatnot is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, parental status, disability status, or any other status protected by local law. We believe that our work is better and our company culture is improved when we encourage, support, and respect the different skills and experiences represented within our workforce.
Compensation Range: $153K - $200K
