Senior Mechanical Designer 1 - Nuclear Power
Join Sargent & Lundy as a Senior Mechanical Designer 1 - Nuclear Power. This role is based on a hybrid work schedule and requires in-office work 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Mechanical Project Lead, work with multi‑disciplined engineering and design teams to develop mechanical general arrangement, piping isometric, pipe support, and mechanical equipment layout drawings in 3‑D models.
Utilize Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit to generate mechanical design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists.
Understand and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) developed in Plant 3D and create physical designs consistent with engineering requirements.
Act as the mechanical design team lead for detailing phases of an integrated mechanical design model.
Resolve clashes and discrepancies in the 3‑D model and report status.
Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members to ensure complete, timely design.
Independently plan and execute mechanical deliverables.
Provide mentorship to less experienced drafters and designers.
Qualifications
Experienced and proficient with AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Mechanical, MEP, Map 3D, Navisworks Manage, and Revit.
Minimum seven years of detailed design experience in mechanical plant design drawings, including piping, pipe supports, and equipment layout.
Proficiency with 3‑D plant layout modeling and design software tools.
Experience reviewing project deliverables, vendor drawings, and interface points.
Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the plant design process.
U.S. work authorization; we do not sponsor employees for work authorization.
Middle‑senior level experience; full‑time employment.
Essential Skills and Experience
Expertise with AutoCAD Plant 3D and related tool sets.
Understanding of integration aspects of P&IDs with 3‑D model development.
Clash detection resolution and discrepancy checks between deliverables.
Interface with IT administrators in developing mechanical deliverable templates and catalogs.
Drawing presentation set‑up.
Plant 3D and Revit model data management.
Experience in reviewing vendor drawings and interface points.
Valued But Not Required Experience
Autodesk Construction Cloud, MicroStation.
Microsoft Office tools.

Compensation Range $74,750.00 - $115,120.00
