Reporting to the CAD Design Manager, the Senior Piping Designer is responsible for the layout and design aspects of our state-of-the-art water and air treatment technologies. The role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: Support engineering design projects involving a team of process, mechanical and electrical engineers, designers and subconsultants to develop comprehensive system design packages. Adhere to and assist in the development of company AutoCAD tools, standards and practices. Prepare 3D models of plants including equipment, piping, valves, instrumentation, and pipe supports. Incorporate 3D models by contractor or vendors in a master model for construction. Prepare 3D models of skidded equipment including piping, valves and instrumentation for fabrication. Prepare detail drawings including plot plans, general arrangement drawings, isometrics, fabrication drawings, pipe routing drawings, process & instrumentation diagrams and electrical drawings. Create and maintain tables associated with drawings (line lists, tie point tables, equipment lists, etc.). Conduct quality control and quality assurance of design documents to ensure compliance with technical requirements. Technical coordination with all disciplines related to engineering effort. Participate in design reviews. Assist with fabrication and/or construction activities as required. Create field redlines of as-built systems and incorporate into record drawings. Learn and understand the highly technical product that Montrose is delivering to our customers. Strive for the development of reliable, effective and safe products that have an impact on the emerging contaminant marketplace. Possess general knowledge of procedures and practices required to execute projects in a global environment. Be an integral part of our safety culture, approaching all aspects of work with a safety-first attitude. Travel as needed domestically and internationally to support the project team in the delivery of Montrose products to its customers. Availability to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally. YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Two-year technical certification or bachelor's degree 10 years experience in related field and piping design 10 years experience using 2D and 3D CAD software Able to handle multiple tasks within the project schedule Able to lead and manage large scale projects In-depth understanding of industry standard practices such as ASME & ASTM Codes In-depth Piping Design Knowledge such as fittings, flanges, in-line assets, welding, fasteners In-depth knowledge of various types of process equipment, valve functions, instrumentation Mastery in the use of AutoCAD and Plant 3D (release 2022 or above preferred) High proficiency working with Plant 3D Spec Editor, Building Project Specific Catalogs and specs for piping and pipe supports High proficiency working with Navisworks Experience working with Autodesk Construction Cloud Experience managing production of drawing sets from creation, markups and modifications Experience developing Production Isometric drawings, Reports, BOM in Plant 3D Demonstrated understanding of P&ID and ability to create piping drawings from P&IDs and equipment arrangement Experience developing general arrangement plans, elevations, isometrics and details for use in bid documents, fabrication and construction design packages Experience working with Sheet Set Manager and External References Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office software and other company and discipline-specific software applications Excellent organizational skills, planning skills and self-starter with good work ethic and sense of urgency Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the company Effective analytical and problem-solving skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
