General Purpose The Senior Manager, Marketing (Email & SMS Marketing) will lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of Ross's owned‑channel communications. This role is responsible for driving customer engagement, retention, and incremental revenue through targeted lifecycle campaigns, marketing messaging, and personalized content across email and SMS platforms. In addition, this role will collaborate cross‑functionally with CRM, Creative, Merchandising, Store Operations, and Analytics teams to deliver measurable impact and elevate the customer experience.

Base Salary Range $121,000 – $198,700.

Essential Functions

Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for email and SMS programs, aligned with business goals and customer lifecycle stages.

Own campaign planning, segmentation, testing, and performance optimization across promotional, transactional, and triggered communications.

Partner with CRM and Analytics teams to integrate personalization, data, dynamic content into email and SMS channels.

Lead A/B/multivariate testing to improve open rates, click‑through rates, conversion, and retention.

Manage vendor relationships (ESP, SMS platforms, third‑party data partners) and ensure platform capabilities are fully leveraged.

Collaborate with Creative and Merchandising to ensure brand consistency and timely execution of campaigns.

Monitor reporting, deliverability, compliance, and data hygiene across channels to ensure optimal program health.

Analyze campaign performance and deliver actionable insights and opportunities to senior leadership.

Support channel expansion opportunities (app, push notification, etc.) and constantly improve UX (preference center, contact strategy, AI integration, etc.).

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in email and SMS marketing, preferably in retail or consumer brands.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA a plus.

Proven success in developing and scaling lifecycle marketing programs.

Strong working knowledge of ESPs, SMS platforms, and customer data platforms (CDPs).

Experience with segmentation, personalization, and dynamic content strategies.

Analytical mindset with proficiency in campaign reporting and performance metrics.

Excellent project management, seasonal planning, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Extensive knowledge of compliance regulations and deliverability best practices.

Preferred Skills

Experience with multiple ESP/SMS platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Attentive, Vibes, Epsilon, Zeta, etc.) and CRMs.

Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies.

Physical Requirements / ADA Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in‑person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. This role requires regular in‑office presence, including to engage in in‑person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in‑office and remote work.

Supervisory Responsibilities Approximately 2 Associates covering email and SMS marketing.
