The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.

The Team The Legal & Business Affairs team provides legal support to Mattel's consumer products licensing, licensing acquisitions, global brand management, PR, marketing, product integrity, finance, risk management, royalty accounting, sales, and operations teams. Job responsibilities will primarily include, but are not limited to, drafting and negotiating contracts, using a range of form-based agreements.

The Opportunity We're seeking an

associate paralegal

with excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills and experience with brand licensing and marketing transactions to join Mattel's worldwide Legal & Business Affairs team. This position is located at Mattel's headquarters in Los Angeles. This position will evolve, and may expand, as Mattel's needs evolve.

What Your Impact Will Be

Support varied IP-centric transactions for Mattel's licensing, brand, media, and technology groups, which are responsible for the global marketing of Mattel brands and products. Daily responsibilities include reviewing deal terms for completeness and accuracy, drafting/negotiating/executing agreements, and preparation of related legal documents.

Provide thoughtful, strategic, and proactive legal and business advice on a wide range of issues related to licensing, marketing and digital/traditional brand activations and other services including independent contractor and agency engagements.

Provide timely responses, proactively manage expectations of clients, and skillfully juggle constantly changing priorities.

Engage in frequent and direct communications with Mattel internal stakeholders as well as external partners (including CEOs, CFOs, and attorneys).

What We're Looking For

1+ year experience as a paralegal, contract administrator, or licensing manager at a law firm, studio or large company strongly preferred.

Bachelor's degree required.

Excellent organizational skills, planning, prioritization, time management, and high attention to detail, especially in relation to contract drafting and interpretation.

Ability to follow instructions and standard practices, and to adapt when instructions and practices don't exist.

Intellectual curiosity with a willingness to grow, learn on the job, and elevate issues beyond experience or comfort zone.

Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Demonstrated growth mindset by staying curious, embracing challenges, and continuously improving.
