Director of Marketing And Business Development
The Business Development & Marketing Director will create, implement, and execute various marketing, communication, and business development initiatives at Wright Close Barger & Guzman. This individual will play a key role in supporting the Firm’s internal and external communications efforts, ensuring brand consistency across platforms, increasing client engagement, and helping to amplify the Firm’s visibility and thought leadership. This includes assisting with collateral design, public relations, website management, social media, legal updates/newsletters, advertising, and other branding/marketing. The on-site position will be based in Houston, Texas, and this person will report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the Firm’s social media presence, including content creation and graphic design, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting
Assist with the creation of designs for collateral, legal alerts, presentation templates, event invites/signage, advertisements, and social media content
Compose internal and external firm e-newsletters and client alerts
Provide marketing technology support to the Firm
Assist the Firm as needed in supporting client events, including onsite and offsite event management, creating nametags, creating RSVP lists, updating our e-marketing system, maintaining current client contact lists, and other support
Collaborate with attorneys and other leadership as needed to develop and promote client alerts, identify and produce thought leadership topics (speeches/articles), and secure speaking or publishing opportunities with organizations and publications
Assist with industry award and ranking submissions, including the Chambers & Partners submissions.
Assist attorneys and Firm leadership with PowerPoint design for speeches and presentations
Assist attorneys and Firm leadership in securing CE and CLE credit for presentations and speeches
Assist attorneys in creating individual business development plans
Support e-marketing initiatives, including building and distributing email campaigns, maintaining mailing lists, and tracking performance metrics
Assist with maintaining the firm’s website, which includes updating attorney bios, practice group/industry profiles, and other pages on the website
Collaborate with attorneys to draft and update biographies and accomplishments on the website and social media
Assist Firm leadership in creating a 3–5-year marketing plan as part of a larger strategic management plan
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or public relations required
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a related role; marketing in a law firm or professional services firm is a plus
Skills in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and Microsoft PowerPoint are required
Experience in writing marketing content for a wide variety of media
Strong understanding of social media best practices and content formats for professional audiences
Graphic design experience is a plus
Familiarity with marketing technology and automation software
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute new ideas
The role will primarily involve working in the WCBG office, with the option to work remotely one day a week.
