Associate Designer - Men's Knits (Finance) Overview The Associate Designer will help create a line of apparel that is attractive to the Tommy Bahama customer, and to work with a team of designers and other staff to ensure the quality of the products is world-class.

Responsibilities

Develops segments of the Tommy Bahama line each season (color, styling, fabric selection).

Within the Men's Knits category, manages the design & development of the product in collaboration with the SVP of Design, Design Director & Design Manager.

Researches trends and inspiration specific to defined product category aligned with the direction of leadership to meet customer needs.

Manages artwork status through the art department to meet deadlines, coordinating all participating decision makers for artwork development.

Attends meetings and coordinates with outside vendors to obtain materials & resources for design.

Develops colorways, fabrications, and related artwork; collaborates with in-house teams on concepts and artwork.

Uses Ned Graphics to create multiple colorways for print & YD patterns.

Creates boards and wall presentations for seasonal updates.

Travels as necessary to support the design process.

Supports merchandising in resolving production problems for current and upcoming seasons.

Checks samples with Design, Product Developer and Tech Designer for adherence to specs, color, fit, fabric, and construction through production.

Listens to feedback from merchandising, sales, and retail staff to learn more about the Tommy Bahama customer.

Works with a team of designers to ensure a cohesive line and high-quality product.

Prepares samples, line sheets, and wall presentations for sales meetings and product assortment reviews.

Ensures accurate and clear communication with the Art Department during development.

Collaborates with Merchandising and distribution channels (Retail, E-commerce, Wholesale) to meet needs and implement changes.

Improves design processes and shares ideas with the design team; balances workload to ensure timely development.

Demonstrates flexibility to take on additional assignments as needed to support the business.

Qualifications

Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience.

2-3 years of design experience in an apparel company; Men's experience highly desired.

Experience with Flex PLM, Ned Graphics, Adobe CC and Smartsheet or equivalent.

Experience with the apparel design process from concept to product.

Previous sweater experience highly desirable.

Rate information varies by factors including experience, knowledge, skillset, location, and budget.

Rate Range: $80,000-101,000 per year
