Overview
AWS Training & Certification (T&C) is seeking a Systems Development Engineer II (SysDE 2) to build and scale automation systems that improve the efficiency, resiliency, and quality of AWS learning content delivery. You will design, implement, and operate solutions that use AI, machine learning, and automation frameworks to accelerate content creation, maintenance, and refresh workflows across AWS platforms such as Content Studio, LCMS, and Skill Builder. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Software Development Engineers, and Curriculum Developers to build resilient, highly automated systems that improve metadata accuracy, automate content updates, and reduce operational effort. This role combines deep technical problem solving with ownership of production-ready systems that enable other AWS builders to scale faster. Key responsibilities
Design and deliver automation systems that simplify and scale content creation and maintenance workflows. Build resilient pipelines and tools integrating AWS services (Bedrock, SageMaker, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, Athena) to automate validation, publishing, and refresh cycles. Identify and eliminate manual processes by creating durable, secure, and cost-efficient system mechanisms. Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews; contribute to operational readiness reviews (ORRs) and post-incident analyses. Improve operational health and reliability through instrumentation, telemetry, and monitoring dashboards. Collaborate with engineers and Product teams to balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability and cost efficiency. Contribute to documentation and best practices that raise the technical bar for automation across T&C. A day in the life
The Systems Development Engineer collaborates with Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, and Curriculum Developers to design and deliver automation systems that improve the efficiency and quality of AWS training content. Each day involves building and maintaining AI-driven pipelines that detect stale content, automate refresh workflows, and enhance publishing reliability. The engineer partners with internal customers across Content Studio, LCMS, and Skill Builder to reduce manual processes, increase scalability, and ensure seamless learner experiences. They balance hands-on coding, system design, and operational excellence to make AWS content delivery faster and smarter. About the team

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 3+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust Experience identifying bugs in architecture, algorithms, functionality, and performance with strong overall debugging skills Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field Experience including building and maintaining data flows and pipelines Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing, or experience in computer architecture Experience developing operational processes and technologies AWS certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect, or a similar cloud certification Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
