Seattle Information Technology (IT) is seeking candidates for Seattle Channel Multimedia Producer (Ordinance Title: IT Professional – C, BU). The focus is to update, strategize, design, create, and evaluate the web, social media, and marketing efforts of the Seattle Channel, the City of Seattle’s municipal television station, seattlechannel.org, multiple social media platforms, and print and digital marketing campaigns. Reporting to the Seattle Channel’s General Manager, this position functions in a daily operations capacity, assisting with the research, implementation, and monitoring of live video streaming technology, including a 24/7 live stream of the Seattle Channel’s TV broadcast and special events. The position requires a unique combination of multimedia design, marketing, journalism, project management, and technical skills. This is a job‑share position budgeted at 20 hours per week (.5 FTE). Based on business needs, additional hours may be required during peak production periods. Candidates should have some flexibility to accommodate these seasonal increases, which will be communicated in advance whenever possible. Manage Seattle Channel’s social media accounts Conceptualize, produce, and create digital content for web, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and other social channels), and broadcast Repackage video for use on digital platforms Capture additional digital assets for social media and other events Use data analytics to compile and analyze web traffic and social media performance and inform social media strategy Marketing/Communications Write and publish for web, social media, e‑newsletter, and other publications Graphic design, photo editing, and video editing for the website, blog, social media, print ads, posters, and social media Design and implement marketing campaigns around Seattle Channel initiatives Technical/Other Maintain an organized file management system Update and maintain Seattle Channel website Encode video for streaming. Set up, monitor and troubleshoot live video streams Monitor online content for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA Experience AA/AS degree in related field or equivalent relevant experience 1+ years of professional experience using content management systems 2+ years of experience collecting and reporting on web and social media analytics 2+ years of experience producing and managing professional social media content and accounts 2+ years of experience writing press releases Capabilities Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Premiere Experience using Canva or similar design tool Experience with WordPress or other blogging tool Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and collaboration skills Strong visual style Aptitude for storytelling through editing Creative, highly organized, detail‑oriented, technologically savvy, flexible, and a team player Able to efficiently manage time, juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work under pressure Self-directed, and capable of successfully managing multiple projects with minimal supervision Reflect Seattle Channel and City of Seattle’s values and commitment to equity Understand and uphold ethics and mission of the Seattle Channel; align work with the City of Seattle’s workplace expectations, values and commitment to equity and Information Technology Department’s strategic vision Employment contingent upon successful completion of comprehensive background investigation Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, journalism, computer science, or other web‑ or communications related field Experience with the Ingeniux web content management system (CMS) Familiarity with HTML and CSS Understanding of user‑centered design and web best practices, including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Universal Design principles Experience creating closed captions Knowledge of streaming media technologies, video and audio codecs Experience in planning events Aptitude for learning new tools and technologies quickly Experience in government or politically dynamic environment Knowledge of local public affairs and current events Knowledge of social media, program publicity trends and distribution Familiarity with and appreciation of municipal government broadcast programming Salary The full salary range for this position is $46.03 - $69.04 per hour. At this time, hybrid telework schedules have a minimum requirement of three days onsite per week.
