The Opportunity Have a passion for hiking, capturing interesting photos, and engaging people in conversation? Join us as a Seasonal Hiking Photographer/Videographer (Fall Oct‑Dec) for our W.I.L.D. Love Adventure Ministry – a wellness program pairing hiking and green exercise with self‑love principles. You will help document the hiking experience in photos and simple video as participants navigate trails in Austin, TX, and nearby areas.

The Big Why Research shows that nature‑based interventions and green exercise increase self‑esteem, coping skills, and prosocial behavior; decrease stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms; and improve blood pressure, immune system, and heart/lung function.
Hiking Team Roles
Program Director – has overall responsibility for the hiking group.
Hike Coordinator – creates the seasonal schedule and tracks attendance at all hikes. Can be a virtual role.
Hike Planner – recommends and plans a single hike.
Group Leader – leads one hiking group on the day of the hike.
Group Sweep – hikes last in the group and keeps a count of the hikers.
Photographer/Videographer (YOU) – document the hike in photos and videos.
Social Host – plans the after hike social.
Social Media Strategist – revolutionizes our digital presence and grows our brand following. (Virtual)
Webmaster – designs and manages style, content, performance, and technical upkeep of website. (Virtual)
Responsibilities
Communicate with the Hike Coordinator and Hike Planner to understand the route of the planned hike.
Coordinate with the Hike Group Leader on the day of the hike.
Participate and document one hike per week on Saturday or Sunday.
Document the after‑hike social.
Catalogue captured photos and videos for Social Media Coordinator and Webmaster to use.
Bring story ideas to the Program Director and Social Media Coordinator.
May assist Social Media Coordinator with creating reels, stories, ads, or simple social media posts.
Ensure that emergency procedures are followed in cases of an emergency.

About You
Ability to hike 3‑5 miles (Beginner), 5‑7 miles (Intermediate), or 3‑12 miles at elevation (Advanced)
Genuine love for nature and outdoor photography
Basic editing skills
Ability to collaborate with hikers to get posed and action photos and videos
Ability to talk to and engage people from all walks of life to capture short, lighthearted video interviews
Able and willing to be outdoors in heat and cold (40‑90 degrees) and rain
Ability to communicate in an efficient and professional manner with colleagues
Bring your own high‑quality camera/smartphone less than 3 years old
Morning person (for morning hikes) but late morning and afternoon times may be available
Ability to follow directions
Preferred: Wilderness First Aid Certified
Complete Leave No Trace training prior to start (provided)
Complete Food Safety training prior to start (provided)
Calm under pressure
