Position Overview
The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking a patron experience‑oriented specialist to become part of the Events Department at the Cedar Rapids Public Library. This person will work directly with patrons to facilitate public use of the library's meeting and event spaces, and ensure that public events run smoothly. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, has a flexible schedule, and a strong desire to provide excellent customer service.

About the Position Under the direction of the Programming Manager, this role coordinates the public use of the meeting rooms and oversees special events in the library.
The City of Cedar Rapids does not offer sponsorship for employment authorization.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with the coordination of the meeting room spaces both internally and with the public.
Work closely as part of the Programming team to develop effective strategies for room management and oversee public use of the spaces.
Coordinate special events in the library and in the community.
Serve as a liaison between the library and the community, cultivating mission‑based strategic programs and special events.
Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures and safety practices.
Attend work regularly at the designated place and time.
Support continuous process improvement initiatives.
Perform related work as required.
Acceptable Experience and Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English or related subject.
Two‑years experience in customer service or communications field and some experience in library‑related work.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications
Valid U.S. Driver's License.
