Capital City Press is hiring: Part-time Sports Copy Editor in Baton Rouge

Overview

The Times-Picayune | The Advocate is seeking a part-time copy editor who will join an award-winning group of paginators on our sports desk. The job is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and will be part of a sports desk that designs pages and edits copy for The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, The Advocate in Baton Rouge and The Acadiana Advocate in Lafayette. Remote applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

These three publications provide coverage of a vibrant sports scene in South Louisiana, including the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, LSU, the University of Louisiana and high schools. For the sixth consecutive year, The Advocate | Times-Picayune was chosen as one of the 10 best sports sections in APSE’s A Division - competing against publications like the Washington Post, New York Times and Los Angeles Times.

You should embrace working in a collaborative newsroom environment, helping deliver a quality product for publications that print seven days a week across three markets.

Responsibilities

• Design pages using InDesign
• Some editing will be required
• Deliver timely, accurate work under deadline
• Work an average of three evening shifts a week
• Maintain consistent communication with editors

Salary : Commensurate with experience
