Business Development Group
The Business Development group is responsible for new business efforts overseeing Sales Support, Consultant Relations, Business Acceptance, and Client Retention.
The Proposal Writer will be responsible for the analysis and completion of new business proposals for all related retirement plan products and services.
Job Description
The Proposal Writer will be responsible for the development and delivery of responses to complex proposal requests from consultants and prospects; managing workload and deadlines; understanding the business processes of Schwab’s retirement plan products and services including Qualified, Nonqualified, Defined Benefit and Stock Plan offerings; and translating said information into a concise written form.
You will work closely with Sales personnel and other members of the Business Development team to produce high quality proposals in a deadline‑driven environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) / Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from prospects, consultants, and current clients
- Manage the proposal process from receipt of RFP through production and distribution to ensure on‑time delivery
- Balance timelines for multiple proposal projects at once; including being prepared in advance for all scheduled internal project calls
- Coordinate the information gathering process from various sources (Proposal Knowledgebase, Sales, Subject Matter Experts, Business Acceptance, Investment Services, etc.) to ensure a high‑quality proposal response
- Quickly and accurately respond to related follow‑up questions and other miscellaneous information requests
- Work with Knowledgebase Manager to review and edit database proposal responses on a periodic basis
- Provide Peer reviews for Proposal team and other business partners
- Participate in continuous improvement and quality control projects to further enhance support of the business development sales process
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant financial services experience in retirement plan administration or recordkeeping services; or stock plan administration
- Proven ability to communicate technical information in a clear manner
- Strong business communication skills and command of the English language including grammar, sentence structure, and proofreading ability
- Ability to work well under pressure in a high‑demand, deadline‑driven environment
- Ability to self‑manage project details and work with different management levels within the organization
- Ability to operate independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail is imperative
- Ability to quickly learn and gain in-depth understanding of existing and new products and services
- Excellent Microsoft suite skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in proposal writing and/or business communications
- Familiarity with industry standard proposal management tools (QVidian, RPAG, RFP Director, RFP360, Catapult, etc.)
- Experience working with AI software
- Bachelor’s degree
