Design Draftsman Job at Westinghouse Electric Company in Mineral

Overview

Design Draftsman – 1-year contract (Mineral, VA). This role supports drafting and documentation efforts at an industrial Nuclear Power Station. It involves hands-on drafting work using MicroStation and AutoCAD, interpreting technical documents, and collaborating with engineers and designers to maintain and update critical station drawings and diagrams.

Your Day-to-Day

• Prepare, maintain, and update mechanical, civil, and electrical drawings including P&IDs, one-line diagrams, and circuit prints
• Interpret construction estimates and technical documents to produce accurate drawings
• Create and revise drawings using both manual drafting tools and computer-aided drafting systems (CADD)
• Maintain the CADD system in operational condition
• Retrieve and issue original drawings from records management and reproduce maps and prints
• Perform freehand and mechanical lettering for technical documents and posters
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to verify and gather information for drawing production
• Support other duties as assigned related to drafting and documentation

Who You Are

• 3+ years of hands-on drafting experience
• Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of technical drawings, diagrams, and construction estimates
• Solid math skills and ability to perform basic calculations
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate Degree in Drafting/Design preferred)
• Prior experience in the utilities industry is required
• Background in Electrical drafting, with additional experience in Civil and Mechanical disciplines
