Job Description: Visual Media AI Specialist
Mercor is seeking creative professionals with expertise in cinematography, video production, and visual storytelling to support the training of advanced AI systems. In this full‑time role, you will use your industry knowledge to annotate, evaluate, and provide expert feedback on visual content, helping AI models better interpret and generate high‑quality image and video outputs.
As a Visual Media AI Specialist, you will collaborate with technical teams to design annotation standards and develop workflows that reflect real‑world creative practices. This is a unique opportunity for visual artists and media professionals to shape the future of AI‑powered storytelling and production.
Responsibilities
- Annotate and evaluate images, videos, and AI‑generated visual content using proprietary tools.
- Provide expert analysis on visual composition, cinematography, lighting, editing, and narrative structure.
- Collaborate with technical teams to design efficient, scalable annotation processes for visual data.
- Help define quality standards for AI‑generated media content.
- Apply critical judgment to assess coherence, creativity, and aesthetic fidelity in multimedia outputs.
- Adapt to evolving task instructions while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Film, Media Studies, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Professional experience in cinematography, video editing, or multimedia production.
- Deep understanding of visual storytelling, shot composition, lighting techniques, and editing workflows.
- Familiarity with film/media production tools and industry standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for the intersection of creativity and artificial intelligence.
Preferred Background
- Portfolio of published or commercial visual work (e.g., short films, branded content, or campaigns).
- Experience mentoring, critiquing, or teaching in film or media production.
- Involvement in content creation across narrative, documentary, or marketing formats.
- Prior exposure to AI, machine learning, or data labeling processes.
- Full‑time; remote or in‑office (Palo Alto).
- Initial schedule: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. PST for training (2 weeks), then aligned with your local time zone.
- Required equipment: Chromebook, macOS 11+, or Windows 10+ computer; smartphone access.
- U.S. applicants must reside outside Wyoming and Illinois. No visa sponsorship available.
Compensation
- $45 – $100 per hour depending on experience, skills, and location.
- International pay rates available upon request.
