Job Location: Headquarters - Hagerstown, MD

Salary Range: $18.00 - $22.00 Hourly

Job Summary

Graphic technician must be proficient in creating print‑ready files, combining artistic flair with technical expertise to ensure top‑quality outputs. Adept at using industry‑standard design software (Adobe/Esko) and staying up‑to‑date with the latest design trends. This position focuses mainly on the pre‑press side of graphics.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Detailed proofreading and adjusting provided art files to press requirements.
  • Very detail oriented; able to manage multiple projects and prioritize according to scheduling and production needs.
  • Responsible for monitoring processes, following SOPs, and working with the entire team to reduce downtime and prioritize customer needs.
  • Understand and interpret production sheets and press requirements for all press platforms.
  • Basic understanding of flexographic and digital press principles, including requirements for wind direction, number across & around, and distortion.
  • Receive and adjust artwork to production order requirements: trapping, color breaks, file editing, fonts, die lines, bleeds, gaps.
  • Very little creative work; take provided art files and adjust them to adhere to production processes.
  • Work closely with Customer Service and Production to ensure we meet customer expectations and provide accurate files and plates for production.
  • Produce contract proofs for customer approval using color‑calibrated wide‑format Epson printers and color laser printer.
  • Produce quality image production plates that accurately reflect production order and customer requirements.
  • Adhere to Hub Labels safety rules and regulations, including wearing steel‑toed shoes and other PPE protection when in the pressroom.

Above average attention to details; self‑motivated, organized, effective communicator; fast paced environment – must have the ability to multi‑task well.

Education & Experience

Associate’s Degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent job‑related experience. Proficient in Macintosh/Apple technology. Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat; InDesign knowledge is a plus. Previous experience in the printing industry is desired.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Printing color and hard copy proofs, going into the pressroom to review and sign off on jobs. The ability to see details at close range. The work environment is a clerical office setting with occasional exposure to a manufacturing environment, moderate heat or cold, and moderate noise levels, moving equipment and other general manufacturing hazards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Education & Experience

Associate’s Degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent job‑related experience. Proficient in Macintosh/Apple technology. Ability to effectively use and navigate Adobe Creative Suite, Esko Software, Prinect Software. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Photoshop, and Acrobat software. Preferred experience with Esko, Prinect, X‑Rite color printer calibration software.

Physical Demands

Mostly sedentary with occasional printing and filing. Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, retrieve documents and cut large sheets or paper. Ability to see details at close range.
