Employment Type: Full Time, Non‑Exempt (Hourly)

Pay Grade: 2024‑2025 Aide Hourly Pay Scale (pro‑rated for number of days employed)

Primary Purpose: Work under the direct supervision of the Campus Director to provide library assistance.

Qualifications

• 60 college earned hours from an accredited educational institution; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Ability to work within deadlines and handle frequent interruptions.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of general office equipment and proficient computer skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
• Experience working with children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual instruction and assistance in using library media center resources including computers and audiovisual equipment.
• Assist students with library books and research.
• Shelve incoming books, materials, and equipment.
• Prepare materials for classroom or reserve collection use as requested by teachers.
• Operate audio‑visual equipment, copier, and media‑center automated circulation system.
• Check library materials in and out; maintain card catalog and bibliographic records.
• Assist with research papers and resources, including library skills instruction.
• Conduct story time and read aloud to small groups and individual students.
• Supervise student use of library spaces and materials.
• Collaborate with teachers across grade levels and subject disciplines to provide instructional and technology resources.
• Participate in library collection building, book fairs, and other events.
• Assist with monitors and parent volunteers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Typical working conditions in a school library environment. Requires frequent standing, bending, and lifting of small stacks of materials. Exposure to biological hazards may occur.
