Overview
Join us as a Motion Designer – Demo in Microsoft’s Design Studio within the Engines & Experiences (E&E) organization. You will craft high‑quality, production‑ready motion design and animation assets that bring product UI, features, and demos to life.
Location & Work Flexibility Primary location: Redmond, WA. There are three additional locations; candidates who do not reside in one of these four areas will be relocated to Redmond. You may work up to 50% from home.
Responsibilities
Create high‑fidelity motion design and animation assets for product UI, demos, and feature storytelling.
Translate design concepts and product functionality into clear, expressive motion narratives.
Collaborate with design leads and cross‑functional teams to ensure motion aligns with product goals and brand standards.
Contribute to motion libraries and toolkits that support consistency and reuse across teams.
Explore and integrate AI tools into your creative workflow to accelerate ideation and production.
Maintain a high bar for craft, quality, and attention to detail across all deliverables.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human‑Computer Interaction, Visual Communications, or related art field and at least 2 years of experience in motion design, animation, or interaction design.
2 + years of experience with motion design tools such as After Effects, Figma, Lottie, Principle, or similar.
A portfolio showcasing production‑ready motion work for UI, demos, or product storytelling.
Preferred Qualifications
8 + years of experience as an art designer in computer games or entertainment, or equivalent.
4 + years of experience with advanced 3D/2D software packages (Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop/Adobe suite, Substance, Houdini, Unity, etc.) and shipping multiple projects end‑to‑end.
4 + years of experience working in product‑focused environments or with design systems.
2 + years of experience with AI tools for animation, prototyping, or asset generation.
4 + years of experience collaborating in a fast‑paced, matrixed organization.
Compensation Base pay range USD $100,600 – $199,000. In the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metro area the range is USD $131,400 – $215,400.
