About The Role The Staff Broadcast Engineer builds and maintains cutting-edge platforms for one of the premier national broadcasters. This role is part of our engineering team to ensure our content is readily available to viewers at any time via broadcast channel playout, Video OnDemand (VOD) and other media services.

Responsibilities
Engineering & Support: Provides engineering support for all on-air broadcast systems
Follow standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment
Builds and maintains FOX’s broadcast infrastructure
Conduct lab, performance and system tests and prototype efforts that can continually evolve FOX’s architecture and infrastructure
Supports evaluation of solutions portfolio against third party offerings
Collaboration & Partnerships: Supports Media Operations team in day-to-day operations and assist users with technical issues or concerns
Partners with the Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues
Collaborate with engineering teams, operations teams, and third-party vendors to develop long term strategy, product development and implementation road maps
Performance Improvement: Know data is critical to making informed business decisions and uses it to understand and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team\'s performance
Analyze dashboards and optimize system security and testing, minimizing bugs reaching final products
Prioritize the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team
People Management & Development: Embody a culture of continuous learning, especially in emerging technologies
Be part of a high performing team and deliver high quality products

What You Will Need
10+ years hands on experience working in a broadcast or television facility
Strong working understanding of the SMPTE 2110 suite of standards as well as NMOS developed by AMWA
Working knowledge of compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS
Designs, deploys, and maintains facility’s intercom solutions
Create, manage, and share design documentation, SOPs, workflow diagrams, and training materials using collaborative tools at FOX, such as Confluence, JIRA, and others
Demonstrate strong analytical, reasoning, and technical troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of major broadcast systems and vendors in routing, storage, graphics, transcoding, playout, master control, etc.
Strong knowledge of asset management systems, file based workflows, media acquisition, trans-coding/encoding, and NAS/SAN technologies
Knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM), on-prem VMs, containerization, and orchestration tools
Experience with virtual machines and database administration
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and routing/switching
General Qualifications: Ability to work effectively across different projects and teams
Ability to work various shifts as part of a 24/7 coverage team
Ability to translate business and operation requirements into technical requirements
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related Tech field
Knowledge and experience with emerging technologies such as 4K HDR and HDR10+
Proficient in cloud platforms, with a strong focus on AWS
Strong knowledge of Evertz Magnum SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast control solution
Experience with Arista MCS for IP-based SMPTE ST 2110 workflows
Experience in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting intercom solutions from Riedel Communications
Familiarity with AI-based system monitoring and diagnostics for improving performance, reliability, and fault detection
Understanding of AI-driven workflow automation for optimizing media management, content processing, and broadcast operations

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role is $138,000.00-158,000.00 annually. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, benefits including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits as per plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
