Overview Director of Marketing, Microbiology – BD

As Director of Marketing for the U.S. Microbiology business, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth of the BD microbiology portfolio, including blood culture, ID/AST, lab automation (BD BACTEC™, BD Phoenix™, BD Kiestra™), and the BD Synapsys™ informatics platform. Lead and develop a team of an Associate Marketing Director and Senior Marketing Managers; collaborate cross-functionally to deliver growth and commercial success. Reports to Sr. Director, Marketing, Diagnostic Solutions for the US Region.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Portfolio Leadership: develop and execute end-to-end marketing strategies from market analysis and segmentation to product launches, pricing, and digital campaigns to drive growth and profitability.

Develop compelling value propositions aligned with BD’s Diagnostic Solutions brand; resonate with executive stakeholders.

Apply BD Way of Marketing and Selling to ensure best-in-class execution across product and brand initiatives.

Represent U.S. market trends and customer voice in global product development and innovation planning.

Build relationships with KOLs, clinical users, and advisory boards to inform strategy and market presence.

Manage solution lifecycle and channel mix while driving innovation and cross-platform initiatives.

Translate customer insights into actionable plans and evidence-based value messaging to support differentiated pricing and business models.

Create targeted marketing plans with clear positioning, messaging, and customer segmentation with defined tactical execution plans.

Marketing Management

Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies to meet business goals, including market analysis, segmentation, forecasting, product launches, pricing, digital campaigns, and sales enablement tools.

Build and scale value propositions across product categories aligned with the BD Diagnostic Solutions brand; resonate with executive decision-makers.

Champion BD’s best practices in marketing and selling (BD Way of Marketing and BD Way of Selling).

Serve as the U.S. VOC, translating market trends into global product development and innovation strategies.

Cultivate relationships with KOLs, clinical users, and advisory boards to inform strategy and strengthen market influence.

Drive lifecycle management, innovation planning, and optimized channel strategies.

Translate customer insights into actionable marketing plans and differentiated value messaging.

Lead cross-platform initiatives and generate clinical, financial, and operational proof points to support innovative pricing and business models.

Commercial Excellence & Salesforce Effectiveness

Drive adoption of high-value products through integrated marketing and market development.

Use data-driven targeting and messaging to support regional sales priorities.

Expand share in existing accounts and convert new opportunities with tailored programs.

Optimize digital campaigns and channel mix to boost funnel performance and customer experience.

Maximize instrument ROI through strategic lifecycle and service initiatives.

Reinforce sales rigor via BD Way of Selling in partnership with Enablement.

Monitor sales KPIs with Business Operations to ensure goal alignment.

Lead customer discovery to uncover needs and shape actionable strategies.

Collaborate globally to validate differentiated, customer-centric solutions.

Qualifications

BS/BA in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA preferred.

10+ years in MedTech marketing/sales; 5+ years in product marketing and team leadership.

Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies that drive results.

Strong business acumen and deep understanding of clinical/lab markets.

Decisive, innovative thinker with a track record of creative problem-solving.

Excellent communicator with strong presentation and relationship-building skills.

Effective leader with a vision, ability to drive change, and manage competing priorities.
