ADMINISTRATOR VII (SPECIAL APPOINTMENT) DIRECTOR, MARYLAND FILM OFFICE The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as Director of the Maryland Film Office within the Division of Business Attraction and Special Projects.

Introduction This is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job Plan, develop, implement, and revise policies and objectives for the Film Office; direct and coordinate client services, including location assistance and production company liaison support; oversee marketing initiatives, office administrative operations, and budget management.

Position Duties Administer mandated film production activity tax incentive programs; manage and coordinate the Film Office’s digital presence, including website, searchable database, and social media channels; oversee office budget and fiscal responsibility; support Maryland’s job creation and investment mission; serve as liaison among production companies, government agencies, businesses, and community organizations. State‑wide travel required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Art, Film, Media, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

Eight (8) years direct film production experience, including strategic plans for film production projects.

Five (5) years responsible management experience in economic development programs involving fiscal and budget management and tax incentive programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Maryland’s film production industry, geography, architecture and heritage.

Advanced degree in film studies or related field.

Experience conducting location selection with visiting production companies.

Experience serving as liaison between film and television production companies, local government, and community stakeholders.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications Statewide travel required. Must possess a valid driver’s license in Maryland.
