We publish cutting edge and impactful work across all of biology.About the RoleWe are looking for a Deputy Editor to help shape the future of Cell Reports. You will support the Editor-in-Chief, manage a team of editors, and contribute to journal strategy. You will also engage with the scientific community, oversee peer review, and help develop editorial content. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in any area related to the topics that Cell Reports covers. Candidates should have extensive editorial experience, strong communication skills, with an interest in managing a team, engaging with the scientific community, and the ability to work well in diverse team settings.Please include a cover letter describing why you are interested in the position and how your skills and knowledge could contribute to your success in this role. - Supporting the Editor-in-Chief and manage scientific editors.
- Contributing to journal strategy and development.
- Overseeing peer review and editorial decisions.
- Commissioning and editing Reviews and Perspectives.
- Building relationships with researchers and institutions.
- Representing the journal at conferences and events.
- Improving editorial workflows and author experience.
- Have a PhD in a relevant field of biology.
- Have at least 5 years of editorial experience.
- Experience managing or mentoring others is a plus
- Display exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
- Able to evaluate a wide range of scientific topics.
- Have interest in science communication and publishing trends.
- Are comfortable working independently and in diverse teams.
- Can travel for conferences and business-based needs, international and domestic.
