The Athletic Communication Manager serves as the sports information director and media relations coordinator for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising the daily operation of the athletic communication office and staff; designing, writing, editing, and distributing press releases and media guides; providing game day programs and rosters for each home sporting event; maintaining www.buffalostateathletics.com and managing departmental social media accounts; managing home event operations of press box/scorer’s table including set up and post event duties; reporting game scores and statistics; compiling and archiving statistics, records, photos of sporting events; reporting necessary information to SUNYAC , NEWHL , Liberty League and NCAA ; and publicizing accomplishments of student‑athletes and the intercollegiate athletics programs; maintaining appropriate contacts with the media, college news service and opposing institutions. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics that are consistent with the skills and abilities related to this position and that address the college’s strategic goals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; experience in sports information/media relations; computer skills including a working knowledge of NCAA LiveStats and/or PrestoStats software for all sports, Adobe products and web maintenance; strong communication and writing skills are essential.
