Position: Library Aide – Part Time, 29.5 Hours

General Statement of Responsibilities
To perform the various duties assigned with the operation of the library including assisting with maintenance and circulation of media resources, processing library materials, and assisting library users with finding information and materials.
Principal Duties (Essential Functions)
- Assist Library Media Teacher or supervisor in the operation of the library
- Shelve, circulate, distribute, and process books and other resources
- Keep circulation records, including collecting and accounting for fines for overdue/damaged materials
- Monitor and maintain acceptable student behavior
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive library environment
- Assist students and staff in locating materials
- Participate in organizing Book Fairs
- Mend and repair books and other resources
- Prepare periodic statistical reports
- Notify students of overdue materials periodically throughout the year
- Manage computer start‑ups/shut‑downs
- Prepare purchase orders
- Perform related duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Filing and record‑keeping procedures
- Library organization including Dewey Decimal Classification
- Computer skills: Windows, data entry, Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a team setting with other librarians and school staff
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer experience within library setting. Copy of transcripts with an AA Degree/60 hours of credits or higher or a copy of passing score on a Paraprofessional Test.
